We love our park and community, and we feel that this addition will provide our players with more opportunities to stay and play in and around Madison.
What is Rec Plus? REC Plus is a program offered by USSSA that the Madison Softball League will be offering as a pilot program in the 2025 fall season. This offers players the opportunity to try out and make respective teams with additional in-season development focusing on specific softball skills without impacting regular season teams and schedules. This program is designed specifically to allow Rec Plus players to experience tournament play in a highly competitive environment.
Who can participate? Any player who is registered for rec softball with the Madison Softball League is eligible to try-out to participate on a Rec Plus team.
How are REC Plus teams selected? Madison Softball League will hold a tryout for all players that have registered to play for regular season softball and the Rec Plus program. We will have a panel of judges, formed by the League's Board of Directors and previous volunteer coaches, who will work to evaluate and grade the athlete's try-out.
How do the tournaments work? The league will establish a practice and tournament sequence that best fits with regular season set-up per age division. Rec Plus will NOT interfere or cause conflicts with regular season games.
Who will be the coaches? It is the goal of the league to identify and acquire the service of independent coaches specifically for the REC Plus program in all age groups. However, during the program’s inception stages, the league anticipates relying on the regular season volunteer coaches.
The Board has worked hard to develop this competitive program in effort to enhance our park, our league, and ultimately our players. It will not be perfect in the beginning; however, with the support of our city, community, and amazing parents, this program will provide an opportunity to build upon what is already a first-class youth softball league. -Your Madison Softball Board of Directors
